This Raleigh historic home remodel brought new life to a 1930s stone cottage in the Forest Park neighborhood of downtown Raleigh. The partial renovation preserved the home’s original charm while introducing timeless elegance and modern functionality. We reworked the layout for better flow and comfort, crafting every detail to feel both classic and current. Period-inspired cabinetry adds beauty and smart storage, blending old and new with ease. The result is a warm, refined home made for modern family living.

Custom Built-In Storage Benches
We added these beautiful built-in storage benches to create a cozy, functional nook under the window. Now, there’s a perfect spot to enjoy the view, sip coffee, or read a book. Plus, the hidden storage keeps everyday clutter out of sight.

Charming Entry Cabinetry
The layout of this Raleigh historic home remodel came with unique challenges – including a front door that opens directly into the living room. To solve this, we designed custom inset cabinetry that adds both beauty and storage at the space. The built-in unit features elegant curved details, a rich walnut countertop, and design elements inspired by the home’s original 1930s architecture. It’s a thoughtful solution that blends function with charm.

We always love to create thoughtful solutions that honor the home’s historic details. One example is the charming quatrefoil cutouts we added for ventilation, inspired by the pattern on the home’s original heating covers – a functional detail with timeless character.
Inside, the cabinetry is just as beautiful, featuring warm wood accents and painted beadboard backing that make even hidden storage feel considered and special.
