our story
House of Maevie Interior Design
We are a residential design studio based in Fuquay-Varina, serving Raleigh and the greater Triangle. We design homes that feel layered, personal, and deeply lived in.
I plan as carefully as I design. It’s what keeps surprises out of the middle of a build. We stay with you from early concept development through construction details to final installation.
I want a home to feel beautiful in a way that’s personal to you. Comfortable enough for everyday life, and thoughtful enough to still feel special years from now.

the designer

Susanne Ordonez
founder & creative director
I’ve always loved homes that feel collected over time. Warmth, texture, a little sense of history. The rooms I like best feel lived in and personal rather than overly designed.
I studied Art History and Interior Design. Then I spent several years in residential design and commercial architecture, before founding House of Maevie. That’s where I learned to balance beauty with function. It’s still how I work: a home has to be intentional and comfortable to live in.
In 2021 my family and I moved to Raleigh. I founded House of Maevie here because I wanted a personal, detail-oriented studio. That means I stay with you the whole way through. And the design gets the time and care it deserves.
Today we work on high-end residential projects throughout North Carolina and beyond, from early concept development through construction and completion. I’m in the details constantly. What I care about most, though, is how a home feels when you walk in the door.
At the end of the day, I want our homes to feel personal. Layered, inviting, and deeply connected to the people living in them.

Based in Fuquay-Varina, NC · Serving Raleigh and the greater Triangle · Virtual Nationwide
House of Maevie is a residential interior design studio based in Fuquay-Varina, serving Raleigh and the greater Triangle. We take on renovations, furnishing projects, and new builds. We guide each one from early planning through construction and installation.
Our studio does creative direction and detailed technical planning. That way you get help with how the home looks and with how it comes together on site. Floor plans, material selections, construction drawings, final styling: we stay closely involved throughout.
I lead every project myself, and a small, collaborative studio team works alongside me. That’s how House of Maevie stays personal and hands-on from start to finish.

The questions we hear most
Frequently Asked Questions
The questions most often asked before starting a project with House of Maevie.
Is House of Maevie a luxury interior design studio?
Yes, though I’d describe the work as bespoke rather than luxury for its own sake. My clients aren’t shopping for a status symbol. They want a home that reflects who they actually are. That takes real care, real expertise, and a process you can trust from the first meeting on. Our projects tend to suit homeowners who are ready to invest meaningfully and want a designer who takes their space as seriously as they do.
What makes House of Maevie different?
I started House of Maevie on one idea: a well-designed home should feel like it could only belong to you. Not like a showroom, a trend, or someone else’s vision. I’m Susanne Ordonez, and I hold degrees in both Interior Design and Art History. My training and influences come from design cultures across the US and Europe.
Main & Broad named us Best Interior Design Firm 2026. That’s lovely, but it isn’t what clients tell me afterward. What they say is that the process felt personal, the outcome felt inevitable, and the home finally felt like theirs.
What's the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator?
Interior decoration covers the surface layer of a home: furniture, paint, accessories. Interior design plans the whole built environment. Space planning, cabinetry, millwork, finish selections, lighting, plus the coordination it takes to get all of it built. Our Full Service Design covers the complete spectrum, including working with your builders, architects, and trades.
