Interior Designer in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina
House of Maevie is based in Fuquay-Varina. This town is our home base and the heart of the area we serve. As a design-led renovation studio, we design renovations, additions, new construction, and complete furnishings for Fuquay-Varina homeowners building and renovating for the long term.
Designing in Fuquay-Varina
Our home base, and a town being built in real time
Fuquay-Varina is home for House of Maevie. Our studio is here, which means I can be on a site in ten minutes rather than an hour. I already know most of the builders working in town.
It’s also changing faster than anywhere else we work. The town has grown by roughly half since 2020, so a lot of what we’re asked to do here is new construction rather than renovation.
Why that changes the work
On a new build, nothing’s locked yet. Ceiling heights, window placement, where the cabinetry runs, how the light lands in the kitchen at four in the afternoon: all of it is still a drawing. That’s the cheapest possible moment to make those decisions, and the most expensive moment to skip them.
So on new construction we join early, alongside your architect and builder, and produce the drawing set before ground breaks. If you’re not sure whether you need both of us, we’ve written about that.
The older side of town
Downtown Fuquay-Varina is a different story. The homes around the two old centers have real character, and the usual older-house problems with it. Rooms someone closed off for a reason that no longer applies. Kitchens sized for a different decade. Finishes that need refreshing without flattening what makes the house worth having.
Our Classic Hilltop project is a good example of that balance.
Lots here are bigger, and it matters
Fuquay lots tend to be larger than what you’ll find in Cary or inside the beltline. That makes additions and porches genuinely viable here, where elsewhere they’d be a fight with the setbacks. It’s worth asking the question before you assume you have to work inside the existing footprint.
Either way the order is the same. Layout, scope and budget first, finishes after, because early planning is most of what keeps a build calm.
Why House of Maevie
Why Fuquay-Varina clients choose us
01
Planning before products
We work through the hard decisions first: layout, structure, scope, and budget. You then make the choices that shape your home with clarity, long before construction begins.
02
Character, not trends
Homes that feel collected and personal, built around the way you live instead of whatever’s popular this season.
03
Guidance through complexity
From concept through installation, we coordinate the details and the trades, so you can keep moving with confidence.
What We Work On
Renovations, new homes, and complete furnishings in Fuquay-Varina
Renovations & Additions
We design whole-home and multi-room renovations and additions across the Triangle, from early space planning through construction and installation. Our studio stays close to the project the whole way, handling creative direction, technical drawings, selections, and trade coordination.
Investment: single-space renovations start around $40,000 for a bathroom and run to $150,000+ for a kitchen. Design fees sit between $6,000 and $22,500.
New Construction Homes
For new builds, we join early, alongside your architect and builder. Together we shape layouts, finishes, and the full technical drawing set before ground breaks. The earlier we’re at the table, the more we protect your vision and your budget.
Investment: design fees begin at $15,000 and scale with the size and complexity of the home.
Furnishing & Interiors
Complete furnishing for full homes and individual rooms, each held to the same standard as a whole-home project. Layouts, custom pieces, sourcing, and styling, installed end to end. Whether that’s one room or every room, we design for how you actually live.
Investment: full-service furnishing begins around $25,000 per room, with design fees from $4,000.

Frequently Asked
The questions we hear most in Fuquay-Varina
You're based in Fuquay-Varina. Does that actually change anything?
For local projects, yes. Ten minutes away means site visits aren’t an event, so I can look at a problem the day it comes up instead of the following week. It also means I already know most of the builders and trades working in town, which shortens a lot of conversations.
We work throughout the Triangle either way, but Fuquay is the one place where proximity is a genuine advantage rather than a claim.
What does an interior design project with House of Maevie cost?
Design fees begin at $3,500 and scale with what the project involves. Furnishing a room completely usually begins at $25,000. Renovating a single space starts at $40,000 for a bathroom and reaches $150,000 and up for a kitchen. Design fees there run from $6,000 to $22,500. New construction and whole-home projects begin at $15,000. Because we’re based in Fuquay-Varina, I can walk the space before quoting anything.
We're building new in Fuquay-Varina. When should we bring in a designer?
Earlier than most people do. The decisions that shape how a house feels all happen in the drawings: ceiling heights, window placement, where cabinetry runs, how rooms connect. Once framing is up, changing any of them costs real money.
We join alongside your architect and builder before ground breaks and produce the technical drawing set, so your builder is pricing something specific instead of estimating. Given how much new construction is going up here, this is the most common way we start a Fuquay project.
