Paris in Color

Partial-Home Renovation · Southwest Raleigh, NC

Our client is an artist, and the first thing she told us was that she wanted color. She and her husband had fallen in love with Paris on their honeymoon and wanted that same warmth and personality at home. Their Raleigh ranch still had its original 1960s kitchen, appliances and all. It was a true time capsule, full of nostalgia but short on storage and connection. We wrapped the cabinetry in Sherwin-Williams Reddened Earth, a terracotta shade that feels colorful and lively, yet warm and grounding because of its earthy undertone. The Delft-style blue-and-white tiles were inspired by her grandmother’s china collection. We kept the original scalloped valance and found it a new place above the bar. The nostalgia of the old kitchen is still there, but now the room reflects the artist and family living in it today.
